facts about independence day of India
15th August is independence day but also we celebrate it on 26th January do you know way? Because on this day we introduced the constitution of our country and the law of a country comes into the hands of the country means that the country is independent on that day. But on January 26th tie or why, there were more days! Because January 26 is not an ordinary day, it has a long history behind it.This 26th January was a very important day for us even before the independence of India. 26th January which started in 1919, When the Montague Chelmsford Act was introduced in our country. At that time a dispute started all over India over this law. Many of you may or may not know that the incident that took place in Jalia Bagh was due to this legal dispute. So there was so much conflict and so much rioting about this law, So the British power to amend this law a little Simon Commission was formed in 1927.
But the matter is that a law is being made for India and how can it be that there will not be a single Indian in it. So it was not possible for the people of India to accept it. So the whole of India protested about it and the Congress protested at that time. You know when this Simon first came to India Lala Lajpat was protesting in Lahore chanting Go Back Simon Go Back Simon .And at that time Lala Lajpat Ray was hit by a police baton named Mr. Sandal and A patriot is a freedom fighter in the history of India We lose Lala Lajpat who gave up her life.
All India was already protesting but when Lala Lajpat died then a protest was created in all India. And this time when the fire was burning all over the country, he again threw ghee into that fire A Minister for Indian Affairs in the British Parliament. He said you don't have a right to your on constitution. It means he meant it You are not qualified to handle Indian law. And at that time, Motilal Nehru responded by protesting on behalf of the Congress, Shut up. We except your challenge.
And the challenge is accepted but this time we have to write our own constitution The Congress formed a committee at that time with Motilal Nehru as its president. Other members of that formation were Jawaharlal Nehru Tejpal and Subhash Chandra Bose and many others. And the name of this committee is Nehru Committee. The Nehru Committee of 1928 gave the first law, hence it is known as India's first Nehru Law.
There is no end to the satanism of the British here also they started saying that we are not willing to accept Nehru's law given by the Congress. And this time he gave Muslim link with the British, In such a situation protests started within the Congress. And at this time there were two factions within the Indian Congress, On one side were Jawaharlal Nehru and Subhash Chandra Bose and many others who stood firm in their goal of complete independence. And on the other side was Rajendra Prasad Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel who was a soft hearted person, Those who protest the British growth movement to get buttoned up for literary status.
At such a time, when the British rejected the Nehru Law, an opposition started among themselves as to what the Congress would do this time. This time, who will deceive these two parties, on one side the opposition and on the other side protested, Gandhi ji came between them. To pacify the two factions, he asked that the British should be given one year to agree to accept the Nehru Law If don't match status then we will form dispute.
Thus a year passed without the British saying anything about the Nehru Law or domain. So the Congress decided this time there is no more talk or they will demand independence and the whole of India knew this. And this session decided to be held in Lahore in 1929, Because exactly one year ago Lala Lajpat Roy was martyred due to head injury in this wave. Jawaharlal Nehru became the president and declared Lala Lajpat Roy in front of the whole of India by garlanding him.
This time we have only one goal, we want full Swaraj independence, we want independence. And this was the time when no one was against themselves and everyone was speaking with one voice. And after this announcement at midnight that day the young members of the Congress were there An official unveiled the flag on the banks of the Ravi River in Lahore.
When this news reached the senior leaders of the Congress, they said ok, the young generation has raised it, but we will all legally raise the flag for freedom. And at that time the date was fixed that we would hoist the flag at Delhi and it would be the last Sunday of January 1930. And the incident happened that Sunday was January 26th. And on that day, the Congress and the people of India raised the first flag in Delhi to demand independence. And since January 26, 1930 till 1947, the entire Indian people have hoisted the flag as a full salute. This is how January 26 has been with us long before not only the country became independent. Then you know that India became fully independent on 15 August 1947.
Do you think that even after getting independence on August 15th, why we still celebrate it on January 26th, there is a reason for that. The reason is that the British decided to give us freedom on August 15, but it is not freedom for us, it is our freedom in which the entire Indian people joined hands together and said that we want freedom now. And besides, how can we forget the flag that has been hoisted for 17 years and besides, to forget who it means is to forget those who sacrificed their lives for the country. So it was decided how to keep this day alive.
After independence on August 15, 1947, the writing of our constitution began. And the writing of this constitution was completed on 26 November 1949. Although the writing was completed, the constitution was not adopted. We waited two months. We have waited for 26th January so that we will adopt the constitution on 26th January itself, So that this day is with us like whole life and since then this 26th January is with us so we celebrate Republic Day on this day also. And it was on this day that our constitution was adopted, the great constitution that continues to run the entire country today.
